News Round-Up

Two ex-Bulls are set for the exit door at York City with both Keith Lowe and John McCombe out of favour with new manager Jackie McNamara. The Minstermen are on a run of 12 league games without a win with McNamara, having lost all four matches since his arrival, not using McCombe in any of his matchday squads.

AFC Wimbledon still have 'a long way to go' to return to Plough Lane despite their members agreeing to a sale of their current home to Chelsea for £2million. Redevelopment work at the Merton site is reported to cost £20million and the current tenants, including the greyhound track, are yet to be given notice to quit.

Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite says he is propping the club up to the tune of £80,000 to £100,000 per week. Smurthwaite is reported to have put £3million into the club over his three year ownership, and has already warned that it will not continue forever with attendances falling at Vale Park.

Two more managers were axed in the National League on Sunday, taking the week's casualty list to four. Gateshead's Malcolm Crosby and Barrow's Darren Edmondson both departed with their respective chairmen expecting play-off pushes. Jimmy Harvey has applied for the vacant Halifax job after winning his first game in temporary charge, while Dino Maamria has replaced Paul Carden at Southport and Paul Cox has been installed at Barrow.

Coventry Sphinx manager Luke Hopkins has resigned from his role with immediate effect. The MFL strugglers have put former manager Martin Ascroft and Lynton Wilkinson in temporary charge. Hopkins, a former Sphinx player, was in charge for three years and saw his side finish 18th last season.
