MP Norman Calls For Council To Reclaim Leases

BBC Hereford and Worcester's Trevor Owens interviewed MP Jesse Norman after today's news of the FA suspension.

He started by asking the MP for his reaction: "Look at the situation, you've got the failure of successive owners to pass the Owners and Directors Test. You've got a Court process that has dragged on months, and you've got now a suspension from the FA.

"I think, potentially, any and all of those could be used as grounds to terminate the leases. I think the Council will be looking closely at the options and I hope it will act on them."

"There has been a merry-go-round of ownership. David Keyte sold the club to Mr Agombar, he failed the ODT and passed it onto Mr McCarthy. He's found to be in breach and passed it on to Mr Lonsdale who was originally going to be at the club for only a few weeks as Mr Agombar's advisor.

"Now, guess what, he has the money and resources to own the club even though he has had a string of brushes with Companies House over the Directorships of companies and other connections.

"I do think the time has come to call halt to this merry-go-round and I hope the Court can do that next week, and it will certainly make a difference if the Council can weigh in on behalf of itself as a creditor. I know it wants to do it, but I know it's very concerned about spending public money on legal processes and I'm encouraging them to do that if they can.

"If they can't then the fans should support the Council and support a defence of that decision if they decide to go for it."
