Lonsdale Is Hereford United Chairman

An article about friendly matches posted yesterday on the Official Hereford United Website contains a few words from Andy Lonsdale who is now calling himself the chairman of the club.

Club Chairman Andy Lonsdale had the following to say:

It is great to see local teams stepping up and taking part, it means a lot to the club and players, showing the support we have in the community. I hope that everyone gives them the respect they deserve; Sinkums are allowing our players to get some crucial playing time before the season starts. Hereford United F.C has always been big supporters of football in the community and we intend to continue this”.

The appointment of Lonsdale as chairman comes just a few weeks after he told GetWestLondon he was only at Edgar Street for a few weeks.

“I am not a director or a shareholder at Hereford. I am only there as a consultant, and only for a few weeks. We did Hereford a favour by letting them hold players trials at Bedfont & Feltham, but that is as far as it goes," said Lonsdale as reported on June 19th.

“I have no intention of leaving Bedfont & Feltham. I am a local boy and have been with the club for 17 years, and it was me and (club chairman) Brian Barry who set up the merger between Bedfont and Feltham.”
