The Football League are to seek a new sponsor for the League Cup after the sponsors of 14 years, Molson Coors, withdrew from talks on an extension. The cup has been both the Worthington and Carling Cups during the 14 year association. Mansfield's new CEO Carolyn Still is now reported to have got engaged to club owner John Radford, just a week after they both refused to comment on claims the pair were in a relationship.

Crewe are trialling Swindon striker Jordan Pavett in their reserves later today. The teenager won a FourFourTwo competition to earn a pro contract with the Robins but has not made a first team appearance after previously playing for Colchester's youth team. Wrexham have confirmed that assistant manager Brian Carey is to join Dean Saunders at Doncaster, as will fitness coach Mal Purchase. Goalkeeper coach Michael Oakes will now assist interim boss Andy Morrell.

Gloucester are to open talks with Cheltenham over extending their groundshare at Whaddon Road into a third season. They say that it would definitely be their last at the ground with a planning application for their own ground hoped to be granted within the next six months. Plymouth bidder James Brent says he has not ruled out keeping Peter Ridsdale as chairman 'with the appropriate governance structure in place'.

Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson expects to lose teenage right back Elliott Hewitt sooner rather than later with scouts watching the Welsh u21 man. The 17 year old made his debut at the end of last season against the Bulls as a 16 year old, and Simpson has called him the best right back in the lower two divisions of the FL. Barnet council say they are still considering a revised application from the football club over their Underhill home made less than two weeks ago, and have not reached a decision yet after club chairman Tony Kleanthous said yesterday that talks had reached stalemate.

Plymouth chairman Peter Ridsdale has had the charges of fraud brought against his by Cardiff Trading Standards dropped after they offered no evidence. Fans had reported the matter to the authorities after the club, under his stewardship, offered season tickets until the promise that the club would spend the money on new players and would later refund supporters if they reached the Premier League. No new players were purchased and fans complained.
