Cash Flows Thrown Into Chaos

There is little doubt that the recession, postponed matches and the teams under-performance has taken its toll on receipts at Hereford United.

Whilst gates were expected to drop, partly because of the relegation to League Two, there has been a drop in match and player sponsorship as well.

A look in Bullseye, the match programme, shows how little interest there is in future games at the time of printing.

Compared with the Bullseye published on the same date twelve months ago, Silver Sponsorship bookings are down from five to three, and Platinum Sponsorship bookings are down from eight to just one. That booking is by the Tupsley Whites who as a group are very generous with their support at Edgar Street.

Player sponsorships are also down. Last year at this stage 16 players were sponsored. This year 11 are sponsored.

Chairman Graham Turner wrote about the problem in Tuesday's Bullseye.

"We will get nowhere near the attendance for the rescheduled matches on a Tuesday evening.

"In addition some match sponsorship will have been lost and three of the postponed programmes were printed and paid for at a significant cost to the Club.

"Without a home League match for five weeks cash flows are thrown into chaos, although we are in a position now where problems like these can be handled it still has an effect on the running of the Club."
