Morecambe won this afternoon's Conference play-off final in a game which was so much more entertaining than that offered at Wembley yesterday.
Exeter took the lead on eight minutes with a goal by Lee Phillips, who was replaced by ex-Hereford United striker Adam Stansfield later in the half after a recurrance of a hamstring injury.
Morecambe, with ex-Bull Craig Stanley (pictured) in mid-field, equalised close to half-time through Thompson.
Then in the second half Danny Carlton scored the winner for the Shrimps.
Late in the game Exeter had a player sent off for a head butt on Stanley.
So Morecambe and Dagenham and Redbridge replace Torquay and Boston in League Two and Craig Stanley could be playing League football.
